Discrimination
Discrimination comes in many forms, but generally, it involves:
- Failing to hire an applicant or discharging, demoting, or promoting an employee
- Posting a job that indicates a preference
- Retaliating against an employee for opposing unlawful business practices or decisions
If you believe you were a victim of discrimination, you will need to file a claim with the appropriate agency, which will result in an investigation to resolve the matter or, if the matter cannot be resolved amicably, litigation. Keep in mind that the law gives you limited time to file a discrimination claim, so if you decide to engage legal help, act quickly.
