Family & Medical Leave

Certain eligible employees are entitled to take unpaid, job-protected leave for (specified) family and medical reasons. The federal law known as the Family Medical Leave Act, or FMLA, sets the ground rules for protected leave.

Not all employees are eligible for FMLA protection. Whether you are eligible will depend on factors like the length of your employment, the size of your company, and the company’s geographic location. More specifically, the law applies to employers who are local, state, and federal agencies as well as private companies who employ at least 50 employees for at least 20 workweeks (in the current or preceding calendar year).

If you think you may be eligible and your employer has denied you the opportunity to take leave, contact us. We have experience representing employees in FMLA cases and can help you determine whether you have a case and if so, to represent your interests in court.
